Purpose: Manages the Engineering and Design Team in developing new products and ensures project schedules are met or deviations are addressed immediately to minimize schedule disruptions. Ensures new products achieve design, quality, and cost expectations that deliver to the targeted market and competitive product segment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads Engineering Design Team in developing new prototype units and product development projects.
• Collaborates with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service and outside vendors in creating new products and troubleshooting current products.
• Establishes prototype scheduling with the product design team and relays that information to production and purchasing.
• Works with Marketing Department to establish accuracy in publications.
• Completes drafting and ECNs as needed.
• Manages the Engineering and Product Design team including: Product Designers, Design Engineers, Line Engineers, BOM Writers and CAD Designers.Manages each member’s accountability to key deliverables in terms of design, quality, cost, and commitments to schedule and project dates.
• Regularly conducts research to stay current on product knowledge (floorplans, components and amenities, chassis, cost, etc) that competes with assigned Jayco brands.
• Regular attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A BS Engineering Degree with 3 to 5 years design and 3D cad experience; or 7 – 10 years equivalent engineering, design, and 3D cad experience.
• RV Product design and engineering industry experience is required.
• Requires strong organizational skills, problem solving, analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong project management experience including experience of meeting design, cost, and schedule targets.
